Sergio Ferraresi, known professionally as Primo Forti, is a passionate composer and musician, with extensive experience creating original works and musical projects. Primo Forti is a solo composer working at the intersection of contemporary classical and melodic popular music. His work is rooted in piano-driven composition, with a strong focus on harmonic development and clear melodic structure.
Primo Forti is the artistic project of Milan-based composer and pianist Sergio Ferraresi. Playing piano since childhood and composing from the age of fourteen, he developed his musical identity through influences ranging from Electric Light Orchestra, The Alan Parsons Project, and Jethro Tull to the classical repertoire he embraced in his late teens. Among his most treasured possessions was his first piano, a german Georg Hoffmann bearing the address “Berlin, Leipzigerstr. 57” on its frame. The instrument accompanied him through his formative years and remains a lasting symbol of his connection to music and composition.
Several years spent living in Hamburg became a defining chapter in his artistic life. Many of his most significant compositions were written there, inspired by the city’s unique blend of maritime character, cultural openness, and creative energy. Beyond its influence on his music, Hamburg earned a special place in his affections, becoming a lasting source of inspiration and cherished memories that continue to find expression in his work.
At the heart of his music lies a passion for melody, harmonic development, and musical dialogue. Rather than treating instruments as accompaniment and soloist, his compositions often feature multiple independent voices engaged in a concertante exchange of ideas, creating a dynamic interplay of questions, responses, and evolving musical conversations.
His music blends classical craftsmanship with contemporary pop sensibilities, with a particular focus on melodic invention, expressive harmony, and structural clarity. Alongside works for solo piano, Primo Forti composes for chamber ensembles including trios, quartets, and quintets, creating music that is both sophisticated and accessible.
